Barista in a Box

Barista

Discover new coffee, in your mailbox.

With cream, steamed, stirred and sugared, on ice, or just plain black; coffee is one of those rituals we just like. Whether you brew your own at home in a percolator or get fancy with those new-fangled Chemex machines, getting the right roast is as important as getting the right mug (we prefer ours rounded and ceramic — the mug, not the joe.)For those of us who like to sample great roasts, and but don’t live next door to a Porto Rico, Craft Coffee is just the ticket. The promise is simple. Artisanal coffee, delivered to your door. Each month you get a box filled with three tasty 4-ounce samples of coffee from around the world. The March box featured roasts from Redlands, Grand Rapids, and Topeka.

Your coffee is custom ground to your specifications, though founder Michael Horn is the first to suggest that whole beans are best, as they are roasted fresh just before shipping. With the samples come instructions on the best brew method for each, and the rather poetic tasting notes —“A delicate strawberry sweetness and buttery mouthfeel complement clean flavors of black tea and honey” — Craft Coffee’s description of the brew from Augie’s Coffee Roasters.

Shall we just knock off our Mother’s Day shopping now?

Now Go Forth (and percolate!)
